Through this project, ADRC aims to continue to contribute to alternative dispute resolution and confidence building in Kosovo North, by extending and enhancing the legal mediation work, and facilitating inter-ethnic dialogue as a perquisite for reconciliation.

Through this initiative, capacities of the Mediation Center Mitrovica were increased by providing funds for the center to contract an administrator to specifically work on referrals and administration of mediation cases. The IP exceeded the target, as within the framework of the project, 386 cases entered mediation, out of which 384 were successfully closed, to the benefit of 923 individuals; while the initial target was 240 cases/disputes to be mediated during the implementation of the project.

In the framework of its robust monitoring acitivites, in order to support the Kosovo institutions in their efforts to deal with the large backlog of outstanding war crimes and other serious crimes, EULEX has been presenting systemic findings and targeted recommendations through regular reports, including under the "Justice 2020" initiative led by the Ministry of Justice. EULEX is also conducting a series of training courses targeting the Kosovo Police War Crimes Investigation Unit. These trainings, developed in close cooperation with the Kosovo Police, aim at assisting the War Crimes Investigation Unit in developing a modern case-management system and in improving its capacities in the fields of case building, case administration, and analysis of war-crimes cases.

To facilitate access to justice in the multi-ethnic Mitrovica region and foster the implementation of the Kosovo-Serbia agreement on judicial integration. The organization will encourage the effective implementation of the agreement through a series of capacity-building and awareness-raising activities. In addition to carrying out its mediation work, the organization will develop an electronic database of mediation cases, host trainings and facilitated study visits for court officials, and conduct a multifaceted outreach campaign.
