UNMIK supported the Mitrovica/Mitrovicë Basic Court to reduce its extensive case backlog by providing 10 interpreters, 2 legal associates as well as supporting the option to refer cases to mediation. 210 cases were referred for mediation. Out of 120 cases that entered the mediation process, all but 2 cases (118) were successfully resolved through mediation agreements. A total of 295 parties have been part of the cases that were processed and closed and 291 benefited from the mediation services and managed to close their case/dispute successfully. The project initially estimated that 30 mediation cases could be processed per month, but the overwhelming demand for mediation services has increased the actual number of cases to 40 per month.

This project helped to increase women’s access to justice and marital property rights and address challenges women face during court procedures related to divorce, marital property division and financial maintenance through raising public awareness and advocacy with egislative bodies and prosecutors. For the first time in post-war Kosovo, women raised their voice against domestic violence publicly, by sharing their personal stories in a transparent way, without hiding their faces and identity. The Family Law amendment came into force with the advocacy led by INJECT and its network. This initiative advocated for better response to the violence against women/GBV cases, with particular emphasis on women's property and inheretance rights. The project supported the assessment of existing laws and launch a publication calling for the amendment of Family Law, particularly Joint Property and Financial Mainetenance. This initiative created a space for women, civil society organizations and institutions to sit together in several events in different municipalities and discuss on newly amended law provisions and the way women’s rights were violated during court proceedings. It also called for joint effort to promote women's property and inheritance rights through 'Institutional Treatment of Domestic Violence Cases”.

The project aimed at fostering inter-ethnic cooperation among young local leaders and strengthening youth participation in local and central decision-making processes through capacity-building of members of the youth advisory boards - Local Youth Action Councils - in 5 ethnically mixed municipalities. The project led to the launch of the demo-version of the E-Youth Platform – an online governance tool aiming at raising youth voices on the matters of shared concern and providing an innovative solution to the gap between youth from all (and specifically non-majority communities) and decision-makers.
