Local governments in Kosovo are starting to recognize the need for government policies and practices inspired by the principles of transparency, accountability, and civic participation. However, many municipalities in Kosovo lack the capacity and the political will to fully operationalize these polices and principles. The Local Effective Governance Activity will not only assist municipalities but also enable citizens to fulfil their role in a multiethnic and pluralistic society through participation in decision-making processes that will guide the development, implementation, and monitoring of local policies.
