International World Health Day

7 April 2020 is the International World Health Day. This year, it is dedicated to the work of nurses and midwives, who are women in a large majority. These days, more than ever, the world is realising of the critical role they play in keeping the world healthy.

Nurses and other health workers are at the forefront of COVID-19 response providing high quality, respectful treatment and care, leading community dialogue to address fears and questions and, in some instances, collecting data for clinical studies.

The best way to praise and recognising the work of the medical staff, all men and women, is to follow the recommendations of the health experts on social distancing, hygiene and self care.

The EU acknowledges the importance of a Public Health system well prepared for the special circumstances that the pandemic is bringing. On 30 March, the EU Office in Kosovo/EUSR disbursed €5M to Kosovo for the purchase of medical equipment and supply.
