UNMIK completed the second day of its donation drive today, delivering food and hygiene packages to four new municipalities.

Today's highlights included:
93 food packages and 40 aid packages to Gjilan/Gnjilane
50 food packages and 30 hygiene packages to Kamenicë/Kamenica
50 food packages and 40 hygiene packages to Ranillug/Ranilug
50 food packages and 40 hygiene packages Novobërdë/Novo Brdo

Two trucks are traversing Kosovo to deliver the donations over the next two weeks, totaling 2159 food packages and 1450 hygiene packages in the first phase. Deliveries of personal protective equipment and tablets - to enable children to continue learning - will be coming soon.

Kamenicë/Kamenica mayor Qëndron Kastrati said the aid would be delivered to the most needed places during challenging days.

"I have said several times that we cannot pass the pandemic without being together...Thank you from the heart, the Special Representative of UN Secretary General/UNMIK Mr. Zahir Tanin, for this donation."

Gjilan/Gnjilane mayor Lutfi Haziri said at the donation that the "unmerciful virus" did not recognise religion, ethnicity or community.

"This is a continuation of the support of our municipality by this mission, having also received two vehicles and other projects."

The assistance will be received by municipalities and then delivered to those most in need. Deliveries are being equitably distributed across Kosovo in accordance with the needs of municipalities.
