Fifth and final day of food and hygiene deliveries takes in seven more municipalities - PPE and technology equipment to come!
Working over the weekend, UNMIK staff completed the fifth and final day of food and hygiene deliveries, bringing to a close the first phase of a two-week donation drive.
Today's highlights included:
- 88 food packages and 40 hygiene packages to Prizren
- 50 food packages and 30 hygiene packages to Mamushë/Mamuşa/Mamuša
- 50 food packages and 40 hygiene packages to Suharekë/Suva Reka
- 50 food packages and 40 hygiene packages to Dragash/Dragaš
- 50 food packages and 40 hygiene packages to Skenderaj/Srbica
- 50 food packages and 40 hygiene packages to Vushtrri/Vučitrn
- 50 food packages and 40 hygiene packages to Obiliq/Obilić
Two trucks carrying food and hygiene packages travelled throughout Kosovo over the past week, delivering donations to municipalities, for onward distribution to those most in need
The Deputy Mayor for Communities in Prizren Ms. Memnuna Ajdini said the municipality greatly appreciated all assistance, especially assistance that was irrespective of ethnicity, during the pandemic.
Vushtrri/Vučitrn mayor Xhafer Tahiri said people in his municipality were living through something that had never happened before as a result of the pandemic.
"This lock down has caused big economic and financial difficulties. All help from donors...is undoubtedly very welcome for the families."
