Kosovo Civil Society Organizations Jointly Publish Their First Annual Human Rights Report

On 30 June, more than 20 civil society organizations (CSOs) officially published their first-ever joint report on the human rights situation in Kosovo. The report was delivered at the end of a grassroots and participatory process facilitated by UNMIK and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) that brought together representatives of CSOs from different ethnic backgrounds as part of ongoing trust building efforts. Its publication is an important achievement that fills an existing gap in human rights monitoring and reporting in Kosovo and that provides a basis for further human rights advocacy with Kosovo institutions. It is intended that the publication of a joint human rights reports by CSOs will be an annual exercise going forward that UNMIK and OHCHR will continue to support.
