An initiative of the U.S. Department of State, OneBeat is a music exchange and incubator for music-based social entrepreneurship, where innovative musicians from around the world launch collaborative projects designed to make a positive impact on local and global communities. With a growing number of world-wide Alumni who wanted to spread the OneBeat idea, a new program - OneBeat Abroad - was established and not long after, OneBeat Balkans was created.
The first ever edition of OneBeat Balkans took place in February 2019, gathering 15 socially engaged musicians from the Balkan region and the U.S. to co-create original music, lead public workshops, and develop ways that the arts can foster trust and economic development between the diverse peoples of this culturally rich region.
