I WANT TO BE HEARD

Through the actresses Edona Reshitaj, Rebeka Qena, Shengyl Ismaili, Xhejlane Tërbunja,

directed by Kushtrim Koliqi,

we present

a cycle of ten audio dramas with stories of women survivors of torture during the last war in Kosovo

The legacy of war is one of the most sensitive issues facing countries that have gone through conflicts or wars. This legacy encompasses many aspects and many levels, but the main one consists in dealing with the aftermath of the war of civilian victims and their families. Given this situation, the political context and thematic complexity, and the fragility of torture victims during and after the war, Integra with its partners (forumZFD and KRCT) in 2017 carried out a project focused specifically on collecting and documenting the experiences of the suffering of tortured women during and after the war in Kosovo. This project was implemented in the format of a memory book, titled “I want to be heard”.

Based on this project and given the importance and value of these narratives/stories for documenting the past, the partners have decided to continue their work with the stories of the memory book “I want to be heard”, by contributing to the field of audio-visual heritage as well. This project aims to document and preserve a very important aspect of Kosovo's past through specific productions, to advocate for the cause of the individual fates and sufferings of women tortured during the war, and ultimately to contribute directly to Kosovo's audio-visual heritage.

Based on the memory book “I want to be heard”, Integra with its partners has produced 10 audio drama with stories of women survivors of torture during the last war in Kosovo.
