US Ambassador to Pristina, Philip S. Kosnett, Acting Minister of Health, Arben Vitia and UN Coordinator for Kosovo Ulrike Richardson, visited the Red Cross distribution center in Pristina, and this visit also marked the official launch of a partnership between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in the fight against COVID-19. This campaign includes, among other things, the procurement and distribution of critical hygiene supplies (including soaps, detergents and hygiene kits) for the most vulnerable households, institutions and communities, including the Roma and Ashkali communities.

"The United States has partnered with UNICEF in Kosovo to help families and institutions at the forefront of this battle ... Only a unified international response is effective against this global threat. Together we can defeat COVID-19, "Kosnet said during the visit.

The United States Government has allocated $ 1.1 million through USAID to provide operational support and enhance Kosovo's responsiveness, stopping further expansion of COVID-19 and mitigating its effects, they added.
