Ambassador Jan Braathu met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Government Goran Rakić yesterday, to congratulate Mr. Rakić on his new position.
The two discussed the co-operation between the OSCE and MLG, and Ambassador Braathu offered the continued support of the Mission to the Ministry and to all of 38 municipalities with whom the Mission works on a daily basis.
The OSCE is a long-standing partner of the MLG. The main framework for co-operation between the Ministry and the OSCE Mission is the Kosovo Strategy of Local Self-Government 2016-2026.
Throughout the years, OSCE work has supported the effort to strengthen and consolidate additional local mechanisms (i.e. village councils, non-mandatory committees and consultative committees with specific interest and/or initiative) and engage the public in decision-making processes at the local level (public meetings, public discussions, public hearings on budget, etc.).
