The play “Our Son” in the production of Belgrade's Heartefact was performed at the end of October in Pristina and Gjilan/Gnjilane. This was the first hosting of a Serbian play in the city theater in Gjilan/Gnjilane after 23 years - according to Heartefact.

The play, by the author and director Patrik Lazić, was performed in Kosovo as part of the 5th edition of the theater exhibition "Kosovo Theater Showcase".

It is an annual event that brings together festival editors and selectors, critics and theater professionals from all over Europe, of whom there were over sixty in Pristina this year.

From the 25th to 29th of October, dozens of shows, performances, panels and public readings were held at numerous locations in Pristina, Gjilan/Gnjilane and Ferizaj/Uroševac with the aim of presenting and getting to know the work of Kosovo artists, cultural institutions and organizations.

As part of the Reconnection 2.0 project funded by the European Union Office in Kosovo, implemented by Qendra Multimedia [Pristina] and Heartefact Fund [Belgrade], the play “Our Son” was performed in Lapidarium of the National Museum of Kosovo in Pristina, as well as in the City Theater of Gjilan/Gnjilane. Also, Heartefact has many years of regular cultural cooperation with Pristina.

“When we performed in Pristina, it was a different atmosphere, the audience was mostly foreign, because it was a festival, various European experts, critics, journalists gathered," director Patrik Lazić said in a recent interview with Belgrade media.

"However, the visit to Gjilan/Gnjilane was more significant, it was the first Serbian play after 23 years. And it could be felt.. About twenty people came to see the play, but those twenty people had the feeling that something important was happening, the same way we felt.” said Lazić, also explaining that the play was performed in Serbian with English subtitles.

“Our Son” is an author's project directed by Patrik Lazić. It is played by actress and acting professor at the Academy of Arts in Belgrade Dragana Varagić, young actor Amar Ćorović, and actor and acting professor at the Faculty of Arts in North Mitrovica, Aleksandar Đinđić.

This author's project focuses on questioning family relations, issues of sexuality and belonging.

For the role of the mother in this play, Dragana Varagić received the award for best actress at the International Festival of Actors Plot 14 held in Banja Luka.
